The Perrier-Jouët Journey (III): Legacy Portraits by Harcourt

To celebrate its bicentenary, Perrier-Jouët has commissioned portraits by legendary Studio Harcourt to symbolise passionate family spirit for passing on artisanal and artistic craftsmanship.

The series of portraits showcase iconic examples of family legacy including French movie stars Alain Delon and daughter Anouchka, Catherine Deneuve and son Christian Vadim, French artists Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and son Louis-Marie, the world’s oldest Circus dynasty Patriarch Sampion Bouglione and son Francesco, France’s oldest Jeweller Olivier Mellerio and daughter Emilie, and Italian legendary wine maker Marquis Antinori and daughter Alegra.

Founded in Paris in 1934, studio Harcourt has a signature timeless style that is easily recognisable. The play of lighting inspired by movie sets is a trait since the early days. "In France, one is not an actor if one hasn't been photographed by the Studio Harcourt", wrote philosopher Roland Barthes in 1957.

National Orchid Centre At Singapore Botanic Gardens

I have been a frequent visitor to Singapore Botanic Gardens, but never actually visited the National Orchid Gardens till today. I don't what made me do so today, but I am glad I did. The National Orchid Garden was opened on 20th October 1995 by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew. Located on the highest hill in the Singapore Botanic Gardens, there are three hectares of carefully landscaped slopes provide a setting for over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids, with about 600 species and hybrids on display.

Here are some pictures I took with my Blackberry Bold (No, I am not paid to endorse it but am sharing it so you know the BB can take great pics) . I love orchids but have never seen these species before. Check out these special orchids that you can see only at the National Orchid Gardens. Pretty inspiring. Nature has its own palette and the best colour combinations.

Who would have thought brown, purple and red would be a good colour combination?

I was in awe when I saw these. They look like beautiful butterflies.

Different shades of purple and twisty petals.

I thought of sci-fi and aliens when I saw these flowers.

Great colour palette and twisty petals. It will make a beautiful flowy gown.

This is the "cool" part literally. A cool room to control the temperature so as that certain species can still survive in Singapore.

This is intense. Check out this solo beauty in the cool room.

Seems like a hybrid of orchid and pitcher plant.

There's even a small waterfall in the "Cool Room".

I even saw a pitcher plant.

The entrance fee is S$5.00 for adults. For students and senior citizens, it's S$1.00. Children get in free. Do check it out when you are at Singapore Botanic Gardens the next time. It is worth every cent!
