NYC Diaries - NoMad

The NoMad Hotel located in the heart of the historic NoMad neighborhood (North of Madison Square Park) opened in March this year, and its namesake restaurant is fast gaining popularity in the stakes of being hip and trendy.

NoMad on 1170 Broadway & 28th Street

The hotel is designed with inspirations from the classic grand hotels of Europe but given a modern day twist with a distinct New York sensibility. Think Hotel Costes as a comparison, for it clearly reminds me of that when I stepped in.

The NoMad Hotel has a casually elegant food and beverage program under the supervision of Chef Daniel Humm (who also helms the famous Eleven Madison Park resto) and Restaurateur Will Guidara.

For main dining, it will be in the Atrium.

There's also something cozier in the Parlour.

Private dining will be at the Fireplace

For Tapas and drinks, there's the Library.

Just having a drink? Check out the stately Bar.

Here's a look at what we ate for dinner.

Started the meal with a freshly baked Zucchini bread.

Tagliatelle with king crab, meyer lemon & black pepper - US$19

Bone marrow gratinee with parsley, shallots & anchovy - US$17

Scallops with corn, tomato & borage - US$28

Black Bass slow cooked with summer squash, shallots & mint - US$34

Chocolate tart with caramel, hazelnut & fleur de sel - US$14

The verdict? If you can score a reservation through your concierge, this is one resto you must not missed. Amazing ambience, delish food, well-polished service staff... definitely value for money. Not to mention, it is the one of the hottest spots in town.
