Earlier this year in February, I discovered Carven on Net-A-Porter. An old French label founded by French couturier Madame Carmen de Tommaso in 1945, it has been given a new lease of life this spring. The maison is now helmed by Guillaume Henry, a former designer at Givenchy.
Who is the Carven girl? Henry described her as "... a free-spirited Parisian girl in the weekend mode... is sexy without showing too much".
What to expect? Chic French pret-a-porter with a youthful and playful twist... not to mention great cuts and draping. I personally love the versatile separates and chic cocktail dresses.
The ad campaign for Spring 2010 is also worth a mention as it does exude a je ne sais quoi carefree attitude to life. What a breath of fresh air to have a departure from sulky/angry -looking models in ad campaigns.
